Routn ("Routn", "we", "us") is a planning app for iPhone operated by Khalid Aminu Adado. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. If anything is unclear, email routnapp@gmail.com.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run your planner: your account details and the plans you create.
- Calendar access is optional and only used to sync your own plans.
- We don't sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
- We collect anonymous usage and crash data to fix bugs and see which features get used — never the content of your plans — and you can turn it off.
- There are no advertising SDKs in the app, and we don't track you across other apps.
- You can delete your account and data from inside the app at any time.
What we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address (Apple may give us a private relay email instead). If you set a display name, username or profile picture, we store those too.
Content you create. Tasks, events, routines, routine steps, schedules, completion history, streaks and your app settings. This is stored so it syncs across your devices.
Calendar and reminders data (optional).
- Google Calendar: if you connect it, we access your calendar events to show them in Routn and to add the plans you create in Routn to your Google Calendar.
- Apple Calendar and Reminders: if you grant permission, Routn reads and writes events and reminders on your device through Apple's frameworks.
You can disconnect or revoke access at any time (see "Your choices and rights").
Location (optional). Only if you turn on prayer times. Routn asks for your location to work out the coordinates used to calculate prayer times for your area. The calculation happens on your device, and the coordinates are saved with your settings so the times stay accurate. Location is not used for anything else, and never for advertising or tracking.
Notifications and reminders. Reminders for your events, tasks and routines are scheduled on your device. We store the settings you choose, such as how early to remind you.
Usage and crash data. Routn uses PostHog for product analytics and crash reporting. See "Analytics and diagnostics" below for exactly what that covers and how to switch it off.
How we use it
To create and secure your account, store and sync your plans, deliver reminders, connect the calendars you choose, respond to support requests, and keep the service working and safe. We don't use your data for advertising or profiling.
Google user data
Routn's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically:
- We only use Google Calendar data to provide calendar sync features you can see in the app.
- We do not transfer Google user data to others except as needed to provide those features, to comply with the law, or with your explicit permission.
- We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
- We do not use Google user data to develop, improve or train generalized AI or machine-learning models.
- No person at Routn reads your Google data unless you ask us to for support, it's needed for security, or the law requires it.
Analytics and diagnostics
Routn uses PostHog for product analytics and Sentry for crash and error reporting. Those are the only measurement in the app — there are no advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. Separately, Loops sends the one welcome email you get when you create an account.
What PostHog collects
- Usage events — which screens you open and which features you use, with counts and timings. For example "opened the calendar", "applied a routine", "connected a calendar".
- A random identifier for your install, so a sequence of events can be told apart from somebody else's.
What Sentry collects
- The error and its stack trace, plus your app version, iOS version and device model, so we can reproduce the fault.
- A short trail of the actions leading up to the error, to show us how you got there.
Before anything is sent, we strip email addresses, the names and notes of anything you've created, and location coordinates from both the error and that trail. Your account appears as an id only, never an email or a name.
What Loops receives
- Your email address and your account id — nothing else, and only once, to send the welcome email after you sign up.
- Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops email and has no effect on your account or your plans.
What none of them ever receive
- The content of your tasks, events, routines, notes or tags.
- Your calendar events, or anything read from Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Reminders.
- Your location or prayer-time coordinates.
- Your email address or name.
Why. To find and fix crashes, and to see which features are actually used so we know what to improve. Nothing else. This data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train AI models.
How long. Usage events and crash reports are kept for 12 months and then deleted.
Turning it off. In the app, go to Profile → Settings → Usage & diagnostics and turn it off. Nothing further is sent from that point. You can also ask us to delete what has already been collected by emailing routnapp@gmail.com.
Who we share data with
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf, only to run Routn:
- Supabase — database, authentication and storage (Central EU, Frankfurt)
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, and on-device calendar and reminders
- Google — Google Sign-In and Google Calendar, if you connect it
- PostHog — product analytics (United States)
- Sentry — crash and error reporting (United States)
- Loops — the welcome email sent when you create an account (United States)
- Expo — notification delivery
- Vercel — hosts this website
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users. If Routn is ever sold or merged, your data would transfer under this policy and we would tell you first.
Profile pictures are stored in a public storage bucket, which means anyone with the exact image URL can view it. Please don't upload anything sensitive as a profile picture.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your account and plans from our systems within 30 days, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation. Data synced to your own calendars stays in those calendars, under your control.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: in the app, go to Profile → User account → Delete account.
- Disconnect Google Calendar: in the app's settings, or at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Revoke Apple Calendar, Reminders, Photos, Location or Notifications: iPhone Settings → Routn.
- Turn off usage and crash data: Profile → Settings → Usage & diagnostics.
- Stop emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
- Access, correct or export your data: email routnapp@gmail.com.
Depending on where you live (including under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, the EU/UK GDPR, or California law), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, and to object to processing. We honour these requests wherever you are. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is restricted per account. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects you.
International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than yours, including where our providers operate. Your account and your plans live in our database in the EU (Frankfurt). Usage analytics and crash reports are processed in the United States by PostHog and Sentry, so that data leaves the EU — you can switch it off entirely in Profile → Settings → Usage & diagnostics. Your email address also reaches the United States when Loops sends the one welcome email after you sign up. We rely on our providers' safeguards for these transfers — data processing agreements, and the UK and EU standard contractual clauses where they apply.
Children
Routn is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or by email.
